This gassifer is under construction.

It is designed to produce woodgas for an Allis-Chalmers 300 cu 6 cylinder diesel irrigation well pump. This gassifer has not been tested at time. The diesel motor has been purchased and I have managed to get the motor running on diesel. The motor sat in storage for about five years, before it was purchased. This project is expected to begin the testing phase in late spring to early summer of 2008.

Many thanks are due to Larry Birch of Norfolk, NE for his financial support of this project. His passion for sustainable alternative green energy has been a great encouragement to me.

Update 8/22/08

First test run of the gassifer. After sealing the obvious air leaks, drum and ammo can lids, as well as some of my welds. This unit produced some of the cleanest gas. The flare is completely invisible during the day.

Update 8/29/2008

I got the gassifer coupled to the diesel motor today. After getting the gassifer going good I fired up the diesel and ran the woodgas into the air intake. The only problem is that the diesel governor does such a good job of regulating the pilot diesel that the only noticeable result was the decrease in visible exhaust. I am working on locating a dynamiter so I can get some verifiable data on reduced diesel consumption.
